Our client, a well established New York firm with deep relationships across the financial services sector, is seeking a Trust & Estates Partner to build on an existing practice while stepping into a defined succession and leadership opportunity. Although a portable book of business is required ($500K+), this role is tied to the planned transition of a senior partner’s practice, with a substantial client base and active referral channels already in place. This is not a build from scratch role, but a structured transition into practice with immediate relevance and a clear Co-Chair opportunity.
You will advise HNW and UHNW individuals, multigenerational families, and closely held business owners on sophisticated estate planning matters, including tax efficient wealth transfer, generation skipping strategies, irrevocable trust structures, and business succession. The practice is busy and supported by consistent referrals from financial advisors, private wealth relationships, and the firm’s broader client base, along with an integrated team and cross practice collaboration.
This opportunity is best suited for a partner already operating at a high level who is looking for greater scale and a more durable platform. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of trusts and estates experience, strong technical depth, and a track record of maintaining and enhancing client relationships.
The structure of this role allows you to continue building your own practice while integrating into an existing one, with clarity around client ownership, credit, and leadership. This is a practical step for a partner looking to scale an existing practice within a more integrated and forward moving platform. Compensation includes a base salary ($350K to $420K) plus origination credit, bonus and a top tier benefits package. The credit model is straightforward and rewards both originated and transitioned work, supporting long-term growth and leadership within the practice.
