Our client, an Am Law 25 firm, is seeking a currently employed, Big Law experienced, Director of Business Development for their Corporate practice. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a current Director role at a peer size firm is required. This role provides strategic leadership, and recruits, retains and develops a collaborative, proactive team of service-oriented corporate business development professionals primarily supporting the Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, Finance, Financial Institutions, Restructuring and other Corporate Advisory practices.
The Director will prioritize initiatives and manage the corporate business development staff to align with attorney/firm/practice specific goals; Develop an understanding of the firm’s corporate practice areas, attorney specialties, clients and business development needs; Provide direction to the corporate business development staff on the enhancement of various processes/deliverables to the senior management of the group.
The ideal candidate will lead and inspire the corporate team, coaching multiple direct reports and their teams and cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration and superior client service. Demonstrable experience and solid understanding of a professional services firm’s structure and management from financial, operational, and personal perspectives and a thorough knowledge of how a sophisticated global law firm works is required for success in the Director role. Knowledge of, and experience with corporate practice areas and transactional matters (including capital markets, finance, M&A and restructuring) required.
Excellent leadership, organizational and project management skills are required. Five to 10 years of experience in business development and marketing (financial services or law firm background preferred). Compensation includes a salary of $300k to 350K and is dependent upon experience and other market factors. Solid benefits package.
