This week on The JSA Blog, we’re sharing some news based on what we are seeing in the current marketplace.
Remember those New Year’s Resolutions you set out to achieve a little over 6 months ago? As we recently passed the midway point of 2024, this represents a great moment to take a look back to what your goals were at the outset of the year, to analyze where you’re at in terms of progress, and to make plans to ensure you are successful in the back half of the year.

If you’re feeling like you’re not on pace to achieve the goals you set, you are not alone. According to a recent survey, over 80% of people feel they are behind in achieving their resolutions, and more than 50% of people have already given up. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up as well. There’s still plenty of time to right the ship!
According to FastCompany.com, here are 3 steps to stay on course with your 2024 resolutions:
- Review your resolutions. If you wrote them down, grab that piece of paper and take a look. If some goals or priorities have shifted, remove the item from your list. It’s okay if things have changed, being honest about it is more important. Don’t be too hard on yourself, just make the necessary adjustments and move forward with a fresh outlook.
- Take stock of your progress and what’s left to accomplish. Another opportunity to be honest with yourself. If you set vague goals, try to adjust them so that they are measurable and quantifiable. That way, you can truly gauge your progress towards your goals. If you initially set goals that are measurable, see how far you’ve come, and what you need to do to finish the job. Update your list accordingly.
- Reset your goals and be realistic while considering how much time is left until 2025. We have five and a half months remaining in the year, so keep that in mind as you reset your goals. You want to make your goals attainable, so choose targets that are possible given the time remaining in 2024. Perhaps try to break up the rest of the year into weekly or monthly blocks. What must you accomplish in each shortened period to have you where you want to be on December 31st? Put tasks on a calendar and schedule as precisely as you can the day and time that you will take each step. Having a thought out plan is half the battle, following it is the other half.
